The year started with a bang and our wonderful team of Grand Daddy cool cats hit the ground running and haven’t stopped since. Although it’s been a nonstop treadmill all the way into April, the end result will all be worth it when it’s over and is what’s keeping us motivated, energised and enthused at the moment. Alright, alright…enough with the suspense! Here’s what you can look forward to in the near future at the Grand Daddy Hotel…
Firstly, our celebrated Thirty Ate Eatery will soon be serving food on the go through a unique Food Truck experience. Stationed on the pavement on the side of the hotel, we are building a window hatch from our kitchen area onto Castle Street and in keeping with our Airstream Trailer Rooftop Park theme, we’ll be painting the wall to resemble an airstream trailer.
Once up and running, guests and Cape Town foodies alike can grab a bite to eat while out and about, exploring in and around Long Street and our beautiful city of Cape Town. With scrumptious items ranging from fresh and tasty breakfast options to gourmet wraps, sandwiches and pizza squares, all the way to a weekly featured traditional South African dish like breyani or hot pots, there is something for everyone to fill their tummies on. Not to mention a variety of ‘hipster-approved’ hot drinks and healthy freshly squeezed fruit juice options. Our tummies are rumbling just thinking about it.
Next up on the Grand Daddy agenda is news on our much anticipated room renovations. Starting on the 1st of May, we will be giving our rooms and suites a new lease on life by injecting them with some local flavour and flair. Think vibrant hues and South African textures combined with comfort and unpretentious luxury. The inspiration was to get colour and life into the rooms and, leaving this project in the trusty hands of our ‘oh-so fabulous’ interior designers, we hope to have it all sorted and ready to reveal by the end of July.
So, watch this space, everyone! One of the Cape Town’s oldest hotels is about to get a serious facelift.
