As always, here at the Grand Daddy we like to stay on top of what’s happening in and around our beautiful city. And since we’re sociable and like to share, we’ll let you in on a couple of events that we think are worth checking out in April…

Cape Getaway Show
While Cape Town may be the perfect holiday destination for tourists, we know that the local Capetonians occasionally like to get away from it all as well. That’s why we recommend a visit to the Cape Getaway Show where holiday specialists from all over will be there to get you inspired and help you to plan your next adventure. Billed as Africa’s leading travel expo, the event will showcase more than 200 interactive displays featuring everything from popular travel, to outdoor activities and camping. On top of all this, there will also be a variety of food and wine stalls to keep your bellies and glasses full.
Date: 1 -3 April 2016
Address: Lourensford Wine Estate, Somerset West
Time: 10am – 5pm

The Bot River Barrels and Beards Post-Harvest Festival
The Bot River Barrels and Beards Post-Harvest Festival is a favourite for food and wine lovers and sees people flocking to the Overberg area every year for a day of music, tasty treats and top notch vino.
“As part of the end-of-harvest festivities, all the winemakers in the surrounds stop shaving their whiskers at the end of February, and a panel of (semi-sober) judges will pick the best moustachioed vintner at the fiesta. Those who can’t get their hands on the intimate event’s coveted tickets can rather participate in the Bot River Tasting experience, a formal sip-and-swirl session designed to showcase the area’s best vintages.” – Cape Town Magazine
Date: 15 – 16 April 2016
Address: Bot River Wine Route
Time: Starts at 5pm

Spar’s Women’ Race & Fun Walk
Ladies, listen up and lace up! It’s that time of year again to show off how good your behind looks in running shorts in the annual Spar Women’s Race in Cape Town. Whether you choose to walk, run or wheel (the event is wheelchair friendly) the 5m or 10km, this event is guaranteed to be a morning of healthy, beautiful fun.
Date: 17 April 2016
Time: 7.30am
Address: Cape Town Stadium

Afrikaburn
Prepare yourself for an epic long weekend of art, music, complete freedom and out of the box thinking. Afrikaburn is our version of the US Burning Man (but better) and takes place at the Stonehenge Private Reserve. Attracting everyone from the weirdly wonderful to the creatively curious, this festival works completely on a barter system so make sure to bring things to trade with!
Date: 25 April – 1 May 2016
Address: Stonehenge Private Reserve

Art, travel, food, sports, music, and culture…Cape Town really is spoiling us for choice this April. Not to mention, in between all of this, you’re always welcome to pop into the Grand Daddy for a delicious gourmet meal at our Thirty Ate Eatery, or even just a drink and some snacks on our rooftop bar.
