Safaris & More

We invite you to add a safari experience to your stay at the Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel by booking at one or both of our sister safari lodges – Jaci’s Lodges in the Madikwe Game Reserve and Cheetah Plains in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve.

Visit them as part of a package and you’ll get two free nights at The Grand Daddy. Or, add them on to your city stay and explore our wild side! For more details or visit our Specials page.

Jaci’s Lodges

Jaci’s Lodges comprise two lodges, Jaci’s Safari Lodge and Jaci’s Tree Lodge, which are located side by side on the banks of the Marico River in the Madikwe Game Reserve. Known for its superb game and beautiful scenery, Madikwe is just a three-and-a-half hour drive from Johannesburg or Pretoria.

Both Tree Lodge and Safari Lodge are in beautiful settings, and are similar in many ways: you’ll experience the same friendly service, excellent guides and wonderful food. But they also have slightly different feels about them: Tree Lodge is smaller and set on stilts above the river bank, with wooden walkways connecting the secluded rooms, while at Safari Lodge, the older of the two, there’s an air of home, but with generous dollops of luxury.

Guests are amazed at the wealth of game and birdlife in Madikwe (seen during the day and on our night drives), which is fast becoming an iconic reserve in South Africa. Plus, it’s all in a malaria-free environment.

Cheetah Plains

Cheetah Plains Private Game Reserve is located in the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park and Mala Mala, and you can be assured of fabulous safaris and friendly, professional hospitality.

The Sabi Sand is South Africa’s most famous private reserve and is located on the western border of the Kruger National Park. This is where Africa’s Big Five – leopard, lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo – roam freely.

Cheetah Plains is roughly 850ha in size but our extensive traversing rights with neighbouring reserves, which include Buffelshoek, Torchwood and Vuyatela, give visitors access to almost 8 500 ha of pristine African bushveld and breathtaking wildlife.

When you’re not out on one of your twice-daily safaris spotting big cats, bush babies, hyenas, rhinos, hippos, African wild dogs (if you’re lucky), eagles, vultures and owls, you will be kicking back at our beautiful and comfortable lodge. Our eight thatched chalets are set in indigenous gardens and offer wonderful privacy. At night you can literally hear the call of the wild as lions and hyenas set out on the prowl.

Facilities include a swimming pool, massage room, a well-stocked curio shop, internet access, a bar and more. We employ 30 staff members – including highly skilled guides – to ensure that your every need is taken care of. All you need to do is arrive; we take care of the rest.
