The City Bowl Market on Hope: The Incidental Daddy
There’s something special about shopping at a market: The fresh flowers, fruit and vegetables lovingly collected, the people behind the products, inviting aromas of beautifully prepared food and the buzz of happy voices as friends – and foodies – meet and catch up over carefully selected spoils.
All photos by Dawn Jorgensen.
The City Bowl Market on Hope, newly established, offers all of this and so much more in a beautiful historic building in Gardens. The market has a focus on fresh food and home-grown produce (with bags of potatoes, tomatoes etc going at R5 each!), and most stands are owner-run.
There is so much to see, touch and taste and I see it becoming a regular spot for Saturday breakfast gatherings. With too many stands to mention, I include photos of some in this post.
Know, though, that each exhibitor has been carefully selected to ensure that the market offers an exceptional, intimate experience.
With winter looming, there is a definite change about. The air is cooler, rain has arrived and we’re all looking for snug environments to warm the heart and feed the soul. The City Bowl Market is that very place, under cover with plenty of parking spance.
Open every Saturday between 09h00 and 14h00 at 14 Hope Street, Gardens, Cape Town. Contact Madelen on +27 (0) 73 270 8043 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more info. See you there!
PS: Tucked away downstairs and around the corner is the Buy Network Concept Store with the most amazing clothes, shoes and jewellery on offer. Don’t miss it.
