Life does rush by at a pace that frightens me, and I am grateful that The Incidental Daddy and eternal traveller within me always remembers to stop, look and see more than the rush. There are so many wonderful experiences to be had, with many of them right here in Cape Town, and I’m determined to seek them out. With that in mind, this week I’d like to recommend a visit to Boulders Beach to see the Colony of African Penguins that live here. It’s also a wonderful place to take in the sea breeze.
Songwriter and poet Adam Donen left Cape Town to find fame. After swapping Vredehoek for London at 18, he has gained acclaim across Europe. TimeOut London champions him as a musical poet, and his work is widely and positively compared with that of Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen.
Thanks to some truly creative minds, an overnight stay or weekend away need not be made of the mundane. If youre tired of seeing the same old thing every time youre travelling around the world, then take a journey through the rabbit hole and try one of these quirky and unique hotels!
If you find yourself with a couple of hours to spare on any day, Id highly recommend finding your way to the Iziko South Africa Museum for an explore and a wander. Located in the Companys Garden, the Museum was founded in 1825 and houses important collections in the field of zoology, paleontology and archeology.
This week, the Incidental Daddy is for the children and creature lovers among us, as I recommend a drive out to Paarls Klapmuts area and a visit to the unbelievable Butterfly World: The largest free flying park for butterflies in Southern Africa.
